Thousands of federal employees were terminated over the past week, with their dismissal notices citing performance issues. Many have shared their recent performance evaluations with Business Insider, which contain highly positive feedback.
Groups of dismissed federal workers are organizing to challenge their terminations and are exploring potential lawsuits. Melanie Mattox Green, a former employee of the US Forest Service, received her latest performance review in October, which praised her for her “incredible” self-initiative, “superior quality” work, and efforts to enhance “efficiencies” within her team. Despite these accolades, she was let go last week, along with thousands of other federal probationary employees.
“It’s a low blow, and it’s completely baseless,” Green stated in an interview with Business Insider. She questioned the rationale behind the mass terminations, saying, “If these layoffs were genuinely performance-related, then why were thousands of well-reviewed employees dismissed?”
